The Difference Between Real and Noise

The Difference Between Real and Noise

There’s something I’ve been noticing lately…

And I can’t quite unsee it.

I came across a page the other day—filmed in the mountains of China.
People creating by hand. Slowly. Carefully.

Not for performance.
Not for attention.

Just… creating.

And it stopped me.

Not because it was impressive—
but because of what didn’t happen.

I didn’t question it.
I didn’t analyse it.
I didn’t look for what was off.

Because lately… I do.

Even with the most “real-looking” content.

There’s this subtle feeling—
something I can’t always explain.

But my body knows.

And the moment I feel it… I’m gone.

Not because it’s bad.
But because it feels empty.

And that’s the part that’s been sitting with me.

We keep being told we have an attention problem.
That we can’t focus anymore.
That everything needs to be faster, sharper, louder.

But I don’t think that’s true.

I think we’re recognising disconnection.

I think something in us is waking up—
quietly—
and starting to reject what doesn’t feel real.

Even when it looks perfect.
Even when it’s almost convincing.

Because real doesn’t just look right.

It feels different.

Real has weight.
Presence.
Something you sense before you understand it.

There’s no urgency in it.
No need to prove.

It just… is.

And once you feel that—
everything else becomes obvious.

Louder.
More forced.
Less honest.

And you can’t unfeel it.

Maybe nothing’s wrong with us.

Maybe we’re not distracted.
Not lazy.
Not lacking discipline.

Maybe we’re just done trying to connect
with things that were never real to begin with.

If this landed…

just notice.

Where in your life can you feel the difference
between real… and noise?
